September 21st, 1994, was a special day in the life of Jeremy Donn Ottley. It was a day that he knew of something special being done in his behalf -- something he couldn't do for himself that was needed for his progress. In fact, how he knew of this special event is not exactly known, but he knew. No one had spoken with him since before August 29th, 1993, but still he knew something significant was occurring.
After August 29th, 1993, those who knew him enjoyed but memories, dreams and impressions of his continued presence in the eternities, and longed to see his smile, enjoy an embrace, hear his voice, or listen to a new song he wrote. Some sought knowledge of what happens after this thing called death occurs, in order to continue their relationship with Jeremy Donn.
It seems that the only hope available to unite ourselves with loved ones lost to an untimely death is far in the distant future, as the plan of life slowly unfolds to our view, and we live to watch it's seemingly endless unveiling. If Jeremy Donn has, as we suspect, been allowed to watch the events of his family unfold, then he has seen very much of life occur as his siblings have moved from the single life to married life with children of their own.
Our minds reach for answers that sooth, as did the knowledge that he knew of the proxy ordinance work on September 21st, 1994. This knowledge helps us understand that he is still enjoying the events and associations of family and friends. He is still aware of the activities in their lives, to the degree permitted, while in the realm of his current existence.
As of September 21st, 1994, Jeremy Donn doesn't have an immovable obstacle in his path to obstruct his return to the heavenly home to greet Heavenly Parents who know and love him. We all await the opportunity to share our experiences with Jeremy during this past 15 years, including those which lie ahead. We are content that the only true sting in death is sin, which has truly been atoned for by our loving brother, Jesus Christ, and needs but faith and repentance on our part to overcome.
Jeremy, we have learned from you, and hope you are still learning from us also. Until we meet again, please know of the great love and longing that we always have to greet you and find out how you've been. All our love to you, son!
